Do the Right Thing The first review that I found was in the New York Times and was written by Vincent Canby. Canby starts his review by quoting Mr. Senor Love Daddy who is â€Å"doing the nasty to your ears, playing the platters that matter† and explains that this movie takes place on the hottest day of the summer. â€Å"Do the Right Thing† stars Spike Lee, who is able to direct and star in this movie â€Å"without compromising his position as an aggressively outspoken advocate of black rights.† The whole story of this movie takes place within a 24-hour period, on the hottest day of the year. During this time â€Å"tempers fray, kidding turns mean, long-hidden bigotry becomes manifested and violence explodes in and around Sal’s Famous Pizzeria.† Canby makes sure to make Lee’s opinion heard when he talks about how this explosion of emotions was in no way a jab at a group of whites attacking a group of blacks who had â€Å"invaded their territory.† Lee is described as having a big screen presence even though he is so small and thin. The move as a whole is described as being full of â€Å"character, color, incident and music.† Canby spends a large part of this review talking about how Lee present controversial topics in both his movie and in real life. Lee showed up to the screening of this moving in a Malcolm X t-shirt and made it clear that the day this movie was shown, was the day that would have been Malcolm’s 64th birthday. Answer: Introduction Recidivism Recidivism refers to the behavior of an individual repeating an act of behaviors that are undesirable, even after experiencing the negative consequences of engaging in the behavior. Recidivism in Australian Recidivism is rampant in Australia with 42% of prisoners released during the 2011-2012 returning under sentence within 2 years. In Australia, about two in every three prisoners will have been imprisoned in the past. About one in four of Australian prisoners will be reconvicted within three months of being released from the prison. The rates of recidivism in Australian regardless of how they are measured seem reasonably consistent over time. Approximately fifty percent of Australian adults police arrestees will have been arrested at least one in the last twelve months and about one in five will have spent time in prison in the last twelve months. Between fifty and sixty percent of the Australian adults police arrestees will be rearrested at least once within ten years even though the likelihood of arrest is highest within the first 2 years. Approximately two out of three Australian adult offenders appearing before the courts of laws will have been convicted in the past and one in five sentenced to prison in the past. About 15% of the Australian adults offenders released from community corrections will go back to the community within 2 years. Reoffending in Australia climaxes in the mid to late teenage years and the likelihood of being a recidivist is highest between the ages of 21 and 17 years of age, and declines into adulthood. Rate and Comparison The Australian rate of recidivism is as high as 42% in comparison to the United States which has about 76.6% of those released getting back to prison within five years. In the United States, about two-thirds (67.8%) of people released get back to prison within three years in comparison to between 35% and 41% of the prisoners in Australia being reimprisoned within 2 years of being released. Furthermore, a number of social and economic factors play a role in increasing the rates of recidivism in Australia. Examples include poverty, inadequate housing facilities and inability to meet some of the basic needs of an individual. Additionally, the policies of the criminal justice system in Australia have not been efficient in reducing recidivism, because some of the policies make it difficult for the offender to get a job, once he has been released from prison (Mitchell et al 2012). Examples of such policies include suspending their driving licenses and maintaining a prior record of crime that makes it difficult for these offenders to be successfully integrated back into the community. Hence, these offenders will definitely resort back to crime. The number of prisoners in Australia who have been arrested and incarcerated for re-offending is very high. For instance, statistics indicates that 50% of prisoners, who are currently in Australian jails, have been imprisoned before (Dwyer 2016). Therefore, they are repeat prisoners. This figure is very high, when compared to the rates of recidivism in the United States. The comparison is made to the United States because; the US has some of the highest crime rates in the world. However, the rates of re-offending in the United States stands at 24.4%; this is in comparison to 50% in Australia (Dwyer 2016). In Australia, the people who are vulnerable to recidivism are young people, who are between 10 to 13 years old. Their rate of recidivism stands at 70%. This is a very high rate, and it signifies the failure of the government policies to efficiently address the problems that these children are facing (Giles 2016). These problems are social and economic problems. For instance, some of the children who are found to be committing crime are always involved in taking drugs (Lockwood, Nally, and Ho 2016). This is a social problem that is facing Australia; hence, the best method of solving the problem is to ensure that it is difficult for young people to access the drugs, and they pass through a rehabilitation program that does not focus on punishing these children, but helping them to overcome their drug addictions (Skeem et al 2014). The problems that are affecting young offenders are the same problems that affect adult offenders, resulting to the overcrowding of Australian prisons. Therefore, it is important to assert that the best strategies that can help to reduce the problem of recidivism, should center on fighting poverty and ensuring that people do not easily access drugs that are harmful to their health (Di Tella and Schargrodsky, 2013). However, these policies may not efficient if other stakeholders in the criminal justice system do not cooperate with the government. This is because reduction of poverty and regulating the social system in Australia is a function of the federal and provincial governments. On the other hand, the criminal justice system can come up with its own policies aimed at reducing the problem of recidivism in Australia There are a number of policies and factors that can help to reduce the problem of re-offending. These includes training prisoners on skills that they can use to sustain themselves, once they come out of prison, or even, if they are allowed to study while in prison (Durose, Cooper and Snyder 2014). However, these are some of the oldest methods used to rehabilitate prisoners; hence scholars suggest new methods that can complement the mentioned methods. One of the methods that has been identified, and can be efficient in solving the problem of re-offending is the use of peer mentors. For instance, the use of peer mentoring has achieved great success in countries such as Sweden and the Republic of Ireland in reducing the problem of recidivism. Under this concept of peer mentoring, there is a need of identifying ex-prisoners who are fully rehabilitated, so that they may help their peers who are in prison. They are to provide advice to their peers, on the best methods they can use to be fully integrated back into the society (Rice and Harris 2013). It is important to explain that only the person who has once served a prison sentence can understand what these other people are facing; hence, they are better suited to give a reliable advice that can help in reducing the chances of recidivism in Australia (White, Nemelka and Floyd 2015). It is important to explain that prisoners are likely to respond to the advice of their peers, as opposed to the advice of wardens and law enforcement officers. Therefore, the use of peer mentoring might be one of the most efficient methods to use in reducing the high rates of recidivism in Australia. Reformed prisoners will have a chance to contribute to the society, because of their initiatives of helping convicts to overcome crime once released. In fact, it is the use of peer mentoring that United States, one of the countries that has a high crime rate, is able to reduce the rates of re-offenders in the country. Discussion The peer mentoring system will involve the use of ex-convicts who are trained as positive role model to the young men and women who are incarcerated. Under this program, a mentor will be assigned to specific prisons and inmates for purposes of talking to them, telling them his life story, and explaining to them the importance of obeying the law, and living a positive life in the society. While providing the mentorship services, the mentor must be working under the supervision of a senior law enforcement officer, who should offer guidance and monitor the conduct of the prisoners who are being mentored (Gallagher et al 2015). Furthermore, it is important to assert that the mentorship program should cover training on self-belief, skills, motivation and focus. It is important to explain that having a positive role model is one of the best and most powerful methods of preventing re-offending. This is because a mentor is an example of success, and prisoners will identify with him, because he has also passed through the same system and he understands their fears and their vulnerabilities. However, ion as much as mentors will play an important role in determining the success of the full rehabilitation of prisoners, there are certain criteria that a mentor must meet, before he is given a chance to engage in the mentorship program. The first criteria, is that the mentor must be free from using illicit drugs (Durose and Markman 2015). Furthermore, the mentor must not be a drug addict, as drug addiction is a problem, and it is not an example of positive living. Additional, the mentor must be having a stable life, and a [positive attitude towards other people. He must also have stopped engaging in crime. It is only a mentor who has the above qualifications can manage to earn the respect of the offenders. Therefore, without the respect of these offenders, chances of a mentor achie ving success during the mentorship program are low. In a study carried out by Listwan et al (2013) in the United States, results indicate that counseling has the greatest impact in reducing cases of recidivism. For instance, in the United States, counseling sessions have the impact of reducing re-offending by 13%. This is closely followed by skill building programs, which reduced instance of recidivism by 12% and multiple coordinated services that had an impact in reducing cases of recidivism by 12%. Furthermore, it is important to assert that the mentorship sessions which were the most efficient and had positive results were group based mentorship programs (Mohammed and Mohamed 2015). From these results, it is possible to denote that the best method that the Australian department of correctional services can reduce the negative impacts of recidivism is through the use of group based mentorship programs. The correctional officers and policy formulators can learn from this study that discipline interventions did not have an impact of reducing the occurrence of recidivism. In fact, Listwan et al (2013) explains that in areas where a punitive approach was used for purposes of correcting offenders, there was an increase of instances of recidivism by 8%. Furthermore, deterrence interventions had an impact of reducing instances of recidivism by 2%. Therefore, these results provide a proof that it is easier to reduce instances of recidivism through the use of mentorship programs. This is as opposed to the use of punitive and deterrence interventions. The Australian government can learn from these studies, and carry out their own independent research and case study analysis on countries that have adopted the mentorship programs as their official policy of rehabilitating offenders, so that the government can judge whether the policy is efficient, and can be applied in Australia. Some of these reasons include poverty and poor social conditions. However, these are not the main reasons for an increased rate of re-offending in Australia. Furthermore, reduction of poverty and improving the social conditions of offenders and people in Australia is not within the scope of correctional service officers. This is the responsibility of the federal and provincial governments (Schmidt and Witte 2012). However, correctional officers can learn from countries such as Sweden and the United States, and develop a mentorship program, where ex-convicts will come and mentor the existing convicts. These mentorship programs are a success in these countries, and an example is the United States, where the prison mentorship programs have led to a reduction of 13% of circumstances of recidivism in the country (Davis et al 2014). However, while coming up with a prison mentorship program, caution should be taken, to ensure that only reformed prisoners are allowed to offer mentorship services. This is because they will become positive role models to their peers. On the other hand, punitive and deterrence policies do not achieve the desired results of reducing the rates of crime. In fact, these policies lead to an increase in the rates of crime. This is because convicts will still seek to engage in crime after they have left the prison. They do not have any motivating factor that will prevent them from committing crime. Recommendations For purposes of reducing the rates of recidivism in Australia, the department of correctional service should introduce mentorship programs. The department should look for reformed prisoners, who have not committed a crime, for a period of five years. The department should train these people on counseling services; hence, imparting counseling skills to them. These people should use the imparted skills, for purposes of counseling their peers in the prisons. Furthermore, to achieve efficiency through this method, the department should carry out a case study, and analyze the manner which countries such as United States and Sweden have managed to reduce the rates of re-offending, through the use of peer counselors. The government should learn from these countries and implement the policy on a wider scale in Australia. The policy should be a governmental policy, with legislations in place that will provide guidance on the manner which correctional officers should implement the policy. While "Araby" depicts a youth being set up for his first great disappointment, and "A Clean, Well-Lighted Place" shows two older men who have long ago settled for despair, both stories use a number of analogous symbols, and lap over each other thematically. At the beginning of "Araby", the narrator describes the street's lamps as lifting their "feeble lanterns" towards an "ever-changing violet" sky (227). The colour violet is both dark and rich. The sky, this deep, mysterious colour, and always mutating, suggests the expanse of unknown beyond mortal experience. The feeble lights which fail to lick the lowest tufts of cloud resemble the people who look out into the fog of unanswerable questions; who can never hope to find anything but the shapes one reads in, like hillside skywatchers. The narrator's character goes around looking up. First at Mangan's sister: from the shadow, from the floor, and from the subordinate position of an admirer. Then, more metaphorically, he looks up to an image he's built for himself; an expectation of beauty and treasures; an enthusiastic hope or hopeful enthusiasm that his pilgrimage to Araby will yield him if not the answer (to the question which manifests as a nameless longing), then the key to the answer. This answer is represented by Mangan's sister (whose name is not mentioned, as with the Hebrew G-d), whom the boy hopes to access through the gesture of his quest.1 At the end, the boy looks up again, like the l... ...othing in it. Hemingway's old man walks away from the bar with dignity, but with hope long vanished. The older waiter, another faithless man, is resigned to nothingness. Put Out on the First â€Å"Date†: The Selective Representation of Hemingway’s A Farewell to Arms The deeply philosophical work of Ernest Hemingway was taken under artistic license and possibly political agenda when it was produced in film. In A Farewell to Arms, Hemingway paints, with broad strokes of disillusionment, over the ideals of honor, war and love as a preoccupation or distraction from the realities of life. The reader is left with the impression of the constant human drive to distract itself whether with alcohol, violence, anesthesia or passion. But the film focuses on the love story and the trials it faces through a backdrop of faith and war. The alterations made in the representations of the characters, love and war leave the viewer with only a hint of the deeper questions presented in the novel. Lieutenant Frederic Henry is portrayed in novel as a generally well disciplined, reserved and good natured. He did not partake in the teasing of the priest despite his lack of faith and even endeavored to mollify any perceived slights with the man. Henry could never muster any reason for joining the Italian army other than just being in Italy at the time and speaking the language. He does not feel any particular allegiance, even having the opinion that, â€Å"It was impossible to salute foreigners as an Italian, without embarrassment† (Hemingway 23). Henry just doesn’t seem to care one way or the other which army he was a part of so long as the action would distract him from anything else. In the novel, he assists a man trying to get away from the front line, grows attached to a woman because she is there, becomes an alcoholic, and shoots men in his command because they wouldn’t help with the retreat. And yet these actions were permissible in the fact that they were a result of his circumstance and not his character. He was presented to the reader as a man ever looking for something to occupy his mind and body from reality. In the film however, all of these actions were cut out except for the ones involving Catherine. An entirely different character is established when he brushes aside the feelings of his friend when he obstinately steals Catherine’s attention from him and proceeds to deflower her in a church courtyard. Catherine was not as altered in the transition to the silver screen, other than the omission of her initial recollections of her dead fiance and her deception and going off pregnant and on her own when Henry must return to the front line. The complications that were involved with the development of her character in the novel slightly mistranslated in the film as seeming as though she was constantly living in a dream world, refusing reality. While she certainly was not alone in her delusions of enduring happiness in the text, she was portrayed as alone in the film for most of her pregnancy. In the novel there was constant discourse with Henry as the two of them were away in the country or sequestered away in some hotel room. In the film there is a hint of feminism when Catherine’s friend Ms. Ferguson complains about the current role of women in the war and her reoccurring dismay on her own loneliness. The role of women was going under a reconstruction, though not as hot a topic it would become after the Second World War. The war, itself, is incredibly downplayed in a total screen representation of perhaps ten minutes. The simplistic but enthralling manner in which Ernest Hemingway writes his chapters regarding the war effort are completely thrown away in order to film a romance. There is camaraderie among the soldiers and an active lifestyle that Henry misses while he is away with Catherine in the country. The war was not something that this industry was trying to sell; it was trying to promote it as a needless obstacle to happiness where the novel simply presented it as a function of man. When reading this novel, the idea of love fell into the same ideals that Henry found empty and overused. But, the film portrayed the romance as a definite and overpowering thing. In the text, this couple was simply juxtaposed and a romance ensued. There was a war going on and people were dying. That hovering reality drives a person to find solace in any way they can. In the film, Henry is portrayed as a man on the hunt and Catherine was easy prey. They are not described as being sexually intimate until much later in the story, and while this could have been interpreted as the first time any actually feeling emerged between the two, it was an incredibly liberal interpretation that the nurse put out in the first encounter—considering Catherine, Henry, Ferguson, and Rinaldi were all present at the occasion. In the novel, love was an aspiration and a preferable occupation no matter what time you have with a person or their past. Catherine seems to still have her ex fiance in her mind when she comments on vague differences between him and her new suitor such as, â€Å"‘You don’t pronounce it very much alike’† (Hemingway 31). It was simply a convenient affair of emotions that kept a man and a woman’s mind off of the war. But the movie did not include these subtleties that amassed into disillusionment. The end of the film there is a dramatic scene in which Henry soothes Catherine’s fear of abandonment and she bravely dies and he lifts her up in his arms, pulling the white sheets with him off the bed as church bells ring out into the rain. This is a much more romanticized version of the, â€Å"she was unconscious all the time, and it did not take her very long to die† (Hemingway 331). The novel was rich in anti-illusion and focused on the realities of humanity and life, but the film only hinted at these themes. People will find distraction from pain, even if the actions cause more pain. All ideals of honor, loyalty, and love will be a threat to rationality. But the drive for distraction is natural. After Henry leaves the effort of the war he feels like he has no purpose in life. In a discussion with Catherine he explained the usefulness of the distraction that was the war, â€Å"‘that’s how I worked it at the front. But there was something to do then’† (Hemingway 257). The film cuts this portion out of the story as well as invents its own drama as Catherine hides the fact she is pregnant and runs away to Switzerland and letters are kept from their recipients. This added drama ironically adds to the message the book sends of the need for drama as distraction from an uncomfortable reality. Seeing Henry doubt his actions after reuniting with his love and seeing that even real emotion is fleeting in life is not what the movie would ruin the romance. Aristotle coveted the unity of time, place and action as the key to enthralling an audience—and this could be an excuse snatched up by the film industry, but cutting so much from the novel changes the message of the story. The farewell in A Farewell to Arms is both to the conflict of war and his current preoccupation of love as Henry and the reader is left to finally face the harsh and hollow realities of life. Amir is from an upper class, called the Pashtuns and Hassan is from a lower class, called the Hazaras. Pashtuns are Afghanistan’s largest ethnic group. Pashtuns are Sunni Muslims and Hazaras are Shi’a Muslims. Pashtuns consider Hazaras a disgrace to Islam and are considered a minority. Hazaras have been discriminated for many centuries. Because of this class difference, there are limitations to Amir and Hassan’s relationship. The Kite Runner would not exist if there is no class difference between Amir and Hassan because every conflict in the novel revolves around the class difference between Amir and Hassan as well as Pashtuns and Hazaras. Amir and Hassan themselves would be two completely different people if it weren’t for the labels of Pashtuns and Hazaras and the political issues that are ongoing in Afghanistan would be non-existent as well. The Kite Runner is based on the class difference between Amir and Hassan. There would be no conflicts or issues in this novel if it weren’t for the discrimination against Hazaras and the superiority of Pashtuns. The conflict between Assef and Hassan would be non-existent because if there was no class difference in the novel, Assef would have never teased Hassan. Assef even raped Hassan because he was a Hazara. Assef is the village bully and has very low tolerance for Hazaras, especially Hassan. Hassan was raped to be dominated by Assef and to prove that Hassan is inferior to Assef. Every confrontation Hassan and Assef have, Assef constantly states that Pashtuns are real Afghans and Hazaras are not. â€Å"Afghanistan is the land of Pashtuns. It always has been, always will be. We are the true Afghans, not this Flat-Nose here. His people pollute our homeland, our watan. They dirty our blood. † – (Assef, Chapter 5, Page 43) He also claims that Hazaras pollute Afghanistan and should be killed just like how Hitler murdered 6 million Jewish people because they were considered minorities in Germany. Another conflict that would also make the novel non-existent would be the limited relationship between Amir and Hassan. When Amir and Hassan participated in the Kite flying competition, Amir controlled the kite and Hassan was the kite runner. This already shows the domination Amir has over Hassan and how Amir will always remain the controller and Hassan will always be the runner. Amir only treated him like he was inferior because of he was a Hazara and also because of the favouritism between Amir and Hassan from Baba. 26 years later when Amir is in living the USA and Hassan is still in Afghanistan, Hassan protected Baba’s property with his wife and his child. Hassan and his wife were killed because he was protecting his home and was claimed a liar by the Taliban’s, also because he was a Hazara. The class difference in this novel was not only between Amir and Hassan but between the Talibans and Hazaras as well, which caused a lot of political tension. Reinstitution of the lottery was a change from the oldest first method, which had been the determining method for deciding order of call. 366 blue plastic capsules containing birth dates were placed in a large glass jar and drawn by hand to assign order-of-call numbers to all men within the 18-26 age range specified in Selective Service law. With radio, film and TV coverage, the capsules were drawn from the jar, opened, and the dates inside posted in order. The present paper is designed to show the adaptation of immigrants in the United States. We will include Alison Lambert, who is the representative of the Lebanese nation, was born in Lebanon and moved to the United States country for permanent residence two years ago. The principal issue to clarify in this essay will be whether it was difficult for Mrs. Lambert to assimilate with US culture and people, what differences she has found between two cultures and how different cultural norms influence her living in the new for her country on the daily basis.Immigrants in AmericaA lot of people from different countries come to the United States in search for their good future. There exists a myth that living in the United States is like a paradise, but it is not always so. The presidents of the United States together with other senators promote legislation to confer some kind of guest worker. Many people think that all those bills should not be accepted, because they are immoral. When they invite people from other countries to the United States they show them that they fit only for obsequious jobs that the Americans do not want to do. They think that they are too good for it. When foreigners start working in the United States at first they get miserable payment for the work they do.There is no expectation that you will rise up the economic and social ladder. There are a lot of bills all over the country which regulate rights of the guest worker. There are points when the foreigner can be expelled from the work and deported back to his country where he will continue his life in poverty. The bottom line in all of them is almost the same. It says that the Americans are not equal in their rights with other people who came from other countries to earn money. The plot is hidden but still it exists.America is a country that invites immigrants who arrived there legally and who comply with their laws and Constitution, who understand and can freely speak their language. Such pe ople begin their career with low-paid jobs. But such people have a chance to rise into a middle class and realize their dream. Such countries as Germany and France showed their folly of a guest worker economy. Immigrants do low-paid jobs. But now there are a lot of people in these countries who don’t absorb. People do not agree with the social welfare system. Let’s find out more about the adaptation of the people from Arabic countries in the United States by telling a story about one of the immigrants from Lebanon, Mrs. Lambert.Mrs. Lambert considers family and close people to be the most important in her life.The principal difference in the family values between Lebanese and American culture is that when one is young, one never looks into the future considering oneself outside family. Family appears to be the core of everything they plan to accomplish in life. American society is more independent in relation to family as a notion. Lebanese people share everything they have with their families, and they grow surrounded by their family members. Their cousins, sisters, brothers, with whom they grow, often appear to be their best friends.Each of them knows that he or she is the most important person in his or her life, and she was used to grow in such surrounding. What she has noticed in the United States of America and what is absolutely absent in the Lebanese families, and in Lebanon in particular, is the disease which she would call ‘family’ disease. This is the disease which is very popular among American children. In her society family is something which will never let her and her countrymen down. She was very much assisted by her family members when she has first entered the United States. Now she is not only in constant touch with all her relatives, but all members of her family help each other on the daily basis to the maximal extent.Mrs. Lambert is a teacher; she feels at present that her cultural difference does not prevent he r from effective working with the students and effectively performing in her daily life. Her first and probably, the biggest difficulty was the language. She had basic knowledge of the language, but it was not enough to teach students; and in order to acquire good position she had to learn it very fast. On the other hand, the accent is still very visible when she speaks and some students ask her about her origin. She was lucky not to see any discrimination in relation to her Lebanese identity on the side of her students. However, there are many Lebanese immigrants who also came to the United States to work and suffered from discrimination there.Most of native citizens are surprised on the fact of Lebanese very close family ties. When Mrs. Lambert tells the stories of her life, some of them cannot clearly understand the idea of family being the core of their lives, as well as that one can be so much connected with the family through all his or her life. Her assumption of the family n orms influences her behavior on the daily basis, and it is doubtless; it becomes even more vivid in the light of the norms according to which one lives.When people immigrate they face different difficulties and challenges. The principal challenge for Mrs. Lambert is the difference itself, the difference in cultural norms. She doesn’t think there are disadvantages in her culture. She thinks that every culture has its own advantages and disadvantages. Still, when one comes to another country he or she is a foreigner. The language is the biggest challenge between any two different cultural identities. Mrs. Lambert was faced this challenge and almost coped with it. Yet, she clearly understands that many other cultural challenges are ahead of her.Mrs. Lambert thinks that it is important to assimilate with the culture of the country one now is living in.She supposes that this assimilation is inevitable; however, the extent to which this assimilation should take place with every new comer should be reasonable. Mrs. Lambert’s family was afraid of her losing her identity on entering another country for the permanent residence; and it was probably one of her most important cultural challenges – to adjust to the new cultural surrounding without losing too much of her own cultural traditions. Assimilation with the cultural traditions of the other country often becomes the means of getting stable position and solid basis for human relations.When immigrants come to another country it is significant and highly important to have a source of strength and support there. It is necessary to have something which unite foreigners and help them feel a little bit be home.It may sound surprising, but yet family remains the principal source of support for her in the U.S. This is the peculiarity of her culture – not only is the family the stem of Lebanese identity, but it is also not influenced by the distance. She also gets a lot of support from the local Leb anese community. They have regular meetings during which they discuss urgent problems and issues, and try to find solutions beneficial for everyone. It is very often, that the members of the community ask for assistance in solving cultural problems, not only related to the language, but to the misunderstanding of the people they are surrounded by of their cultural preferences.Cultural identity at times becomes the matter of difficulty in getting assimilated to the new surrounding. Lebanese culture is not very well supported and popularized there, and it is often that Lebanese newcomers appear in cultural vacuum. Thus, this community and regular meetings become the means of supporting those who need this support. Very often people face personal misunderstanding with the native population, and they try to find the way out of the conflict.In the light of all above said, and taking into account the theories of cultural identity, it is possible to note the following. Cultural identity co nflicts are usually called intractable, and thus, they are not possible to be resolved through the traditional approaches. The frames of the individual identity are extremely influenced by the cultural identity and cultural surrounding. The differences in culture often become the ground for the cultural conflict, as the difference in cultural ideas and preferences may be taken by the other side as not simply an outrageous idea, but ridiculous and unreal understanding of the world.For the better cultural communication it may be suggested, that the attitudes towards other cultures should be more tolerate. The cultural ideas and beliefs expressed by the representatives of the other culture should not be taken as unreal or unacceptable. Differences in culture between people will always exist, and thus for the more effective communication it is important to understand and accept the significance of the traditions, which are valued by the other culture, as well as try to better explain th e traditions into which the newcomer would wish to assimilate. However, and what is more important, it is not allowed to break the cultural identity of the person; the difference in cultural views does not mean they are wrong.ConclusionThe issue of cultural identity was always urgent, and with the growing opportunities for migration, this issue will not soon lose the necessity of being discussed. However, it is important to understand one thing in relation to cultural conflicts: the differences between cultures should not and won’t be erased; they should be treated with tolerance. In conclusion It is important to say that it is up to everyone to decide whether to lead a life of immigrant or not. There are a lot of possibilities to have a nice life in one’s own country where one will be respected. Nobody will look at him or her as if he or she is an alien. One’s country is one’s home one must be proud of it. Everyone must do everything possible to make one ’s own country be respected.
